Blob fish : Strange species
Blob fish
Blob fish is a deep sea fish mostly found in the off
coast of mainland of Australia, Tasmania and New Zealand. Due to its high
density habitat, it doesn’t have muscles required to swim, rather it floats above
the sea floor due to its body density which is slightly lesser than water. It
generally lives at the depths between 600 to 1200 meters, where the pressure is
extremely high to survive for most species. Instead of having flesh and proper
skeleton system, its body is similar to a gelatinous mass which is compressed
at the depths. Due to high pressure the fish gets its original
structure. It doesn’t need to spend any energy on finding food as it swallows
every edible matter that comes in front of it at the sea floor.
When it is brought to the surface, its body is
decompressed into a ugly mass which is so ugly that it has been declared as the
ugliest species on earth. It never comes to the surface on its own, rather it
is brought up mistakenly by fishing nets from deep sea. There is not much
information available on it as its habitat is extremely harsh and out of reach
for human observation, though it can be done with powerful submarines employing
robots.
