Impalement

Brief description                             -     This was considered the most inhumane way of torture ever adopted in the history. For Impaling a victim, a tapered and oiled wooden stake is inserted inside the anus (in case of men) or in vagina (for women) from the pointed side. After this, it is stood in the vertical position so that the stake is inserted slowly with the own wait of the victim over a long period of time. The punishment was carried out until the stake comes out of the victim’s breast, shoulder, stomach or mouth. The cruelest part of this torture was that the pointed end was kept blunt enough to not kill the victim too early, so that he/she would have to endure the pain for several hours or even days before dying.

The Judas cradle

Brief description                              -     This is similar to Impalement, but little more humiliating. In this, the victim was made to sit on a pointed, pyramid like bench and was tied with ropes from all sides. After leaving the victim in the same condition for several hours, he was pulled downwards with the rope causing the muscle fracture and death. Another fact about this type of torture was that the bench was never cleaned, to increase the humiliation and cause a death by infection, if the victim doesn’t die by the torture.

Brief description                             -     This method of torture was similar to Judas cradle. In this punishment, a pointed wedge shaped main board was attached to horse legs type wooden bars. The victim was made to sit on the device and heavy weights were added to the legs. After this, a metallic cage with removed base is put on the stomach of the victim with a rat inside it and open end attached to the belly of the victim. After this the top of the cage was heated so that rat starts digging in the stomach to find its way out. During this painful torture, the victim could see being eaten with his own eyes.

Brazen Bull

Brief description                             -     A Brazen bull is hollow bull made with brass. There is a pivoted door at the side or top of the bull which could be latched from outside. For torturing a victim inside a brazen bull, he/she was put inside the bull and the door was latched. After this, the bull was heated until it became yellow. This brutal method of punishment roasted the victim. The bull was designed in a way that the screams of the victim were heard like the bellowing of the bull. The inventor of this punishment was asked to show how it would work. When he entered and closed himself to show that a human being can be set inside the bull, the door was ordered to be latched from outside, trapping the creator himself. After this he, himself was roasted inside his own bull.

Brief description                             -     In this method of torture, the victim was tied inside an enclosed boat in such a way that his head and limbs were left out through small holes. This was done so that he/she could feel helpless even with the free limbs. The boat containing the victim was made to float in a still water body. After this, the victim was forcefully fed a mixture of milk and honey so that they develop a diarrhea. After this, he/she was left abandoned floating in the pond so that bugs, insects and other parasites start burrowing and eating the victim’s body.  This sick way of torture finally made the victim too sick to live and the punishment completed

Brief description                             -     This was one of the most painful bed made for torturing and extracting the information or confessions from a victims by either permanently disabling or killing him/her. In this, the victim was made to lie on his/her back on a wooden rack and his/her both hands and legs were tied to two different cylindrical rollers. The torturers standing at both ends of the rack rotated the rollers, painfully stretching the victim’s body. This punishment permanently dislocated the joints and sometimes even dismembered them from the body. Other convicts were made to watch the torture to make them speak out of fear.
