Fisher Reserve Lion Safari
U.P. Govt. (India) is soon to inaugurate the lion safari
falling on the left side of your drive if you are heading to Etawah from
Gwalior from the main Etawah-Gwalior road in Fisher Reserve Forest. The project
was started in 2005 but was discontinued due to some political issues. The work
resumed in 2012 and is off to completion soon. The safari is proposed to
attract and facilitate a large number of tourists and is aided with a lot of
facilities.
There is one double entry and exit gate at the point,
where the safari starts and ends in the southeast direction. One emergency exit
gate is also provided as a safety measure. The roads are separately marked as
Black Topped Road, Jeepable road, Display area road and Patrol path. There is a
nice arrangement of number of street lights with 220 volt supply from the ingle
transformer near the staff quarters which are constructed on the east of the
safari. Around 20 towers with CCTV cameras and lights have also been installed
at various places especially in the entry area, where, tourists will also see
parking area, open stout restaurant, interpretation center with library,
children’s play park, around five sit outs as rain shelters and pee and cee
facilities. A bus boarding is also made at the end of the entry area. For staff
of the safari, there is a conference room and office and a veterinary hospital
too in the north of the safari. Two watch towers with rest sheds have also been
made at the distances. For animals, authority has designed two animal houses
with soak pits connected to eight waterholes which receive water from three
water tanks. Two bore wells have also been dug, one near the staff quarters and
another near the Breeding center at the west of the safari. One Carcass
incineration center has also been made at the back of the breeding center.
With all these facilities, Govt. is also widening the
main highway and connecting it to other major highways too to welcome more
tourists.
