Penis Snake : Strange Species

Atretochoana eiselti (Penis Snake)

It is a very strange species of Caecilian. There is very small amount of data available about this species but everything that has been discovered about it is strange. It doesn’t have nose and is lung less creature, thus its breathing mechanism is an unsolved mystery. It has an enlarged mouth with teeth and has a snake like body. The body texture looks like a loath of flesh. Due to these features, it looks exactly like a gigantic human penis (this is the reason for its second name).

Until 2011, when it was rediscovered in Brazil, the only information available about it was gathered by studying the specimen placed in the Naturhistorisches museum in Vienna.

Being so concealed, it has been declared as data deficient and there is no information about its food, lifespan or whether it is aquatic or terrestrial.
