Taj Mahal is known to be a mausoleum
built in the memory of Mumtaj mahal
by his husband. Mumtaj mahal who was the third wife of Mughal emperor Shah
Jahan was his favorite in his Haram. When she died at an early age, giving
birth to Shah Jahan’s 13th child, he was emotionally devastated.
Shah Jahan who was the grandson of the greatest Mughal emperor Akbar inherited
his throne from his father. Owing to the glorious history of his family, he was
extremely rich and powerful. He had a taste for architecture and is known to
have built a number of monuments. Taj Mahal is one of the masterpieces built by
him, unmatched by any building ever made in India.
Ustad Ahmad Lahauri is
considered to be the chief Designer of the building. The construction began in
1632 and took around 20000 workers and 20 years to complete. The Dome of the
Taj is one of the most significant and complicated parts of Taj Mahal.
Taj Mahal is made of
magnificent white marble and is awesomely beautiful. It is situated at the
Shore of Yamuna River in Agra city of Uttar Pradesh which was the capital of
Mughal Empire at that time. Taj Mahal turns yellow at the dusk and dawn which is a
beautiful site.
UNESCO declared Taj Mahal
as world heritage site and has been included in the new 7 wonders of the world.
It is also one of The Seven Wonders of India.
