Milestones of Human evolution

Theory of evolution states that we humans, like all other living species of the world have evolved from our ancestors. It is stated that a genetic mutation occurred in few members of an old species of chimpanzee and they were evolved into a newer species. This phenomenon continued for millions of years and we as humans were evolved finally. No doubt this phenomenon still continues and there are a lot of developments to happen. Well this post will only emphasize on the major milestones which occurred in our history of evolution.

Toumai (Sahelanthropus)
Believed to have existed 7 million years ago, this species is considered to have first evolved from chimpanzees. In this context they are the first known step in our evolution. For detailed information you may jump to Sahelanthropus which contains the detailed text about the species.

Orrorin (Orrorin tugenesis)
It is considered as the second big step in our evolution and is believed to have inhibited the earth 5 to 6 million years ago. Orrorin will direct you the Wikipedia page showing the detailed information about the species if you are interested.

Lucy (Australopithecus aferensis)
About 40% of the whole skeleton of a female of this species was found in 1974 and is believed to be 3 to 4 million years old. To jump to the detailed Wikipedia page click Lucy.

Homo habilis
This species occurred 1.8 to 2.5 million years ago. See Homo habilis for detailed information on this species.

Neanderthal man
Neanderthal is considered to be nearest species of present human beings which evolved into various forms and ultimately, present human form was achieved. This major milestone occurred about 250000 years ago. You may click on Neanderthal for elaborate text.

Human Beings
Today what we are is called ‘Human beings’, who are still evolving and will continue to do so in future.

There are many questions, doubting the theory, like where are the missing traits, and why didn’t the chimpanzees present today evolved into something. Actually, evolution is a hit and trial experiment conducted by nature and times itself and all the species present today are only the result of those experiments, few have changed drastically from their original form and few are still the similar.
