Black hole

Black hole

A black hole is a heavenly body with highest possible density and it attracts the other bodies of the universe towards itself with the strongest gravitational pull, capable of even trapping the light. A black hole is not a hole in reality, but a massive body which contains the mass of millions of stars in it. It is shrunk into a very small volume as compared to its mass and if we scratch out 1 cm3 of matter from its periphery then it would have mass equal of many tons.
This unimaginable density of black hole is the result of its extremely high mass causing its compression up to such limits in the effect of the gravity caused by its mass. Many would ask that why did it not shrink when it was a burning star since it had a very high mass at that time too, well it did't because at that time, it was a burning star which lights up because of nuclear fusion reaction inside it causing an outward thrust and thus resisting compression. A black hole forms when a very massive star greater than 8 solar masses ends all its fuel. This star would have had the same fate as a white dwarf if it wasn’t that massive, but because of its mass, neither it remains solitary in the space waiting to cool down, nor it explodes into a supernova, since its enormous gravity not only keeps all of its mass together but also starts attracting more matter from the nearby space. By attracting matter, it becomes so massive that it starts attracting other stars towards it. In this way, black hole keeps increasing its mass by eating other solar systems, not leaving anything behind.
A black hole gathers a mass equal to millions of stars, and continues attracting matter for all its life and no one knows where it is going to end.
Either a black hole keeps attracting the matter and becomes the center of a galaxy or comes in influence of another black hole and revolves around it. A galaxy is a collection of millions of stars bound to each other either by being in the influence of gravity of nearby stars or by rotating around a massive black hole. There are three shapes of galaxies known to us. These are circular, spiral and irregular galaxy, of which our Milky Way galaxy is a spiral one which revolves around a massive black hole.
There is a theory that at some point of time, these black holes will absorb all the matter from the universe and it would be the end of universe. Well this is a prediction and that day hasn’t come yet, so there is no need to thing bad about black holes right now. Till now it has been observed that when these bulk of masses, attracts another black holes they start rotating around each other and keep coming closer. In the course of time, the gravitational pull increases exponentially as the distance reduces. When this happens both the black holes collapse with each other like two closely suspended magnets. This collapse leads to one of the most massive and brightest supernova of the universe. This supernova is so massive that its brightness can be seen for even years.
This is the end of a very massive star. These types of cosmic activities cause enormous gamma ray bursts which are harmful for life on earth. Thankfully our sun has a magnetic current sheet which extends in the whole haliosphere. This current sheet acts as a shield from these cosmic rays. This magnetic current sheet occurs due to the plasma flow inside the sun. The death of a star due to a supernova is the beginning of formation of new stars or even a galaxy if the black hole was too massive.
